Chamonix Summer 2026 - Events, Trails and Where to Stay

Summer 2026 in Chamonix

Summer 2026 in Chamonix forms a dense program. At the end of June, the city hosts one of the largest trail festivals in Europe. July combines a premium academy for mountain disciplines, the World Cup in climbing, and two music festivals. In August, Chamonix hosts one of the most prestigious ultra-trail events in the world.

Arc’Teryx Alpine Academy

The Arc’Teryx Academy is a four-day educational event in Chamonix. Participants attend practical sessions in real mountain conditions. Classes are led by certified guides and professional athletes. The event combines skill training and networking within the alpine community.

The program includes more than 80 specialized workshops. They cover alpinism, trail running, rock climbing, and ice climbing. Training is curated by guides from the Chamonix Experience school together with world-class athletes.

The event includes:

  • About 1,000 places.

  • More than 150 certified IFMGA guides.

  • Over 40 top world-class athletes.

  • More than 80 specialized workshops on alpinism, trail running, rock climbing, and ice climbing.

The Alpine Village is located in Couttet Park in the center of Chamonix. Entry to the area is free. The evening program includes film screenings, lectures, and a music series. Practical outings into the mountains remain paid.

Coupe du Monde d’escalade

The World Cup in climbing takes place in Chamonix from July 10 to 12, 2026. This is one of the most attended stages of the IFSC World Cup. The competitions run for three days — from Friday to Sunday — on the central square of the city.

Only two disciplines are featured: Speed and Lead. A huge 15-meter climbing wall is installed on Place du Mont-Blanc. The competitions take place against the backdrop of glaciers and snow-capped peaks of Mont Blanc.

CosmoJazz music festival in the Chamonix mountains.

CosmoJazz Festival

The CosmoJazz Festival takes place in Chamonix from July 20 to 25, 2026. This is the 16th edition of the free event featuring live jazz and world music that lasts six days. The main value for guests is the opportunity to listen to live music in a beautiful setting without extra costs or complicated logistics.

Daytime concerts take place on mountain venues. To get there, you need to use cable cars. In the evening, the main performances move to Parc Couttet in the center of Chamonix. After 22:00, informal Cosmo Jam sessions begin, which often continue in bars and restaurants.

How It Works in Practice

  • Evening concerts in the center are the simplest and most convenient format. Guests of central hotels can walk there, without planning ascents and descents.

  • Daytime concerts at altitude require more time and depend on the weather and cable car schedule.

  • All concerts are free. You only pay for cable car tickets if you go to the daytime performances.

Practical Features

Daytime concerts at altitude are highly weather-dependent. In case of strong wind, thunderstorms, or fog, cable cars stop and concerts are moved down to the town. Guests are advised to check morning updates in the Chamonix app.

Even if it is +25 °C in Chamonix, at venues above 2000 meters the temperature can drop to +10 °C. It is recommended to bring light down jackets or premium windproof clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Cost and Access

Entry to all concerts is free.

Lift access for daytime events is paid separately at the regular rate.

HOKA Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc / UTMB

From August 24 to 30, 2026, the valley hosts the world’s most prestigious ultra-trail event. For a whole week, Chamonix transforms into a global sports hub with incredible energy: the valley fills with elite runners, brand expo zones, and thousands of spectators.

The event includes several grueling distances that pass through the territories of France, Italy, and Switzerland:

  • UTMB (176 km). The key race of the world calendar. The elite mass start is given on Friday (around 17:45) from the very heart of Chamonix.

  • TDS (148 km) and CCC (101 km). Technically challenging routes over mountain passes.

  • PTL (300 km). An extreme team format with full autonomy.

Hospitality in Chamonix: Where to Stay When Ordinary Is Not an Option

The summer calendar in Chamonix is dense. The valley fills quickly — and the difference between the right address and the wrong one becomes apparent within the first few hours.

For guests whose standard does not involve compromise, we work with a curated selection of properties that offer more than a room for the night.

Le Hameau Albert 1er sits within its own private park — a rare thing in central Chamonix. During UTMB week, when the town reaches peak intensity, the property remains an enclave of quiet. The Michelin-starred restaurant makes it easy to avoid the crowds entirely: dinner here, after a day trackside, is a natural conclusion rather than a logistical exercise.

Hotel Mont Blanc Chamonix offers the most direct relationship with the massif. The heated outdoor pool faces Mont Blanc directly. For those who want to be at the center of things — the UTMB start, the climbing World Cup on Place du Mont-Blanc, CosmoJazz in the evenings — the location removes every unnecessary step.

Résidence Le Cristal de Jade works differently. Chalet-apartments at the foot of the Aiguille du Midi cable car, full spa infrastructure, and the kind of privacy that comes from having your own space rather than a hotel floor. The right format for families or for those who prefer the mountain on their own terms.

We don’t list everything available in Chamonix. We work with what we would recommend to someone whose time and expectations we take seriously.

If you are planning to be in Chamonix this summer — or want someone to plan it properly on your behalf — the conversation starts here.

We handle accommodation, access, logistics, and the details that don’t appear on any public booking platform.
