New restaurants: in the village & on the slopes
IMA —a new venue that turns culinary art into a celebration
Designed to tell a story, this brand new restaurant offers an unprecedented culinary experience by combining cuisine inspired by the Near East with a celebratory atmosphere.
IMA, meaning “mum”, invites guests to take a trip back to their roots, a place where they feel at home. The menu, concocted by executive chef Elie Fishmann – a former chef at the Four Seasons, Paris Society, Bocuse and Ducasse – offers an innovative and daring dining experience designed for sharing, with flavours straight from the Near East.
To accompany the dishes, a selection of fine wines, refined spirits and made-to-order cocktails lead diners to turn their evening meal into a true celebration: as the evening goes on, the atmosphere is transformed and the tables are cleared away to leave space for the dancefloor.
Designed by architects Isabella Caetano and Mikolaj Wroblewski, every space has been carefully thought-out to offer optimum comfort with a refined and sophisticated atmosphere. For the interior design, Christine d’Aulan, founder of MEIJI_STUDIO, lent her vision and added a touch of excellence, rising to the challenge of transforming this former nightclub into a lively new venue.
Bottleneck
New restaurant in the K2 Chogori
After the successful launch of the K2 Palace, the Bottleneck is opening in Val d’Isère, to replace the Altiplano. This new venue is inspired by and named after the legendary climb up K2: the “Bottleneck” is an important yet narrow passage to reach the summit of K2, and the restaurant pays tribute to exceptional mountaineers. Along the same lines as its big brother, the K2 Chogori’s Bottleneck celebrates traditional cuisine, serving up masterfully-braised meat, fish and vegetables. Bernard Mure-Ravaud, a “Meilleur Ouvrier de France” cheesemaker, executive chef at the K2 Chogori, have teamed up to concoct delicious cheese-based dishes and a selection of signature fondues. In charge of the dessert menu, Sébastien Vauxion offers up an elegant and delicious twist on timeless French patisserie.
Folie Douce
New creative and culinary area for La Folie Douce.
The emblematic La Petite Cuisine becomes the epicentre of La Folie Douce after being transformed into “La Petite Cuisine – Gare Centrale”: a 650m2 hub that combines all of the establishment’s services: food, bar, performances, workshops, shop, ski.
Public transport-themed signs guide visitors around the venue for a fun experience exploring the different spaces: Folie shop, Central Bar and Folie Académie.
The venue pays tribute to the building’s original architectural identity: the former top station of La Daille gondola has retained its raw sobriety but with the addition of elegant, sculptured lines inspired by the New York Guggenheim, giving rise to a fiercely modern, industrial-style atmosphere.
Skiing
Top of the Vallon gondola: an immersive experience on Mont Iseran
Following on from the installation of the new Vallon gondola last winter, a cosy and welcoming new top station is being unveiled, inspired by the mountain with its wood and stone decor. An optical image immerses visitors in the story of a legendary 17th-century ascent, for a spot of Alpine history.
Vallon de l’Iseran, a new experience on the mountain
At the top of the Fornet cable car, a new relaxation area has been opened for visitors as they wait to hop on the Vallon gondola. With its large bay windows looking out across the valley floor, this cocoon is like a mountain refuge, the perfect place for a break before you head up to the high mountain on the Vallon gondola.
New Easy Skiing signs on the Bellevarde
A new set of Ski Tranquille signs were installed last season on the Solaise sector of the ski area. Continuing with these measures – which aim to make life easier for beginner skiers – the Bellevarde sector has also been equipped with these special signs this season. They help beginners to find their way around on green and blue slopes, thanks to logos, arrows and flags. Signs directing them to the gondolas have also been installed to show them the way back to resort. Details of all the itineraries can be found on the Val d’Isère Ski app.
The iconic pink cabin on the Olympique gondola gets a facelift
This winter, the pink gondola cabin has been given a makeover and its design now evokes dreams, childhood memories and a magical land. This winter, hop on the Olympique gondola and embark on a timeless voyage up the mountainside!
PEDESTRIAN ACCESS with a QR CODE
Pedestrians can access the ski lifts directly from their smartphones by scanning a QR code, available on the app, website and at points of sale. In addition to the terminal at La Daille, which was commissioned last season, new terminals have been installed this season at Solaise and Le Fornet. At altitude, there are several walking areas in these different sectors.
Two new terraces on the ski area
Le Fornet (Vallon-Iseran sector): A new terrace with a relaxation area, orientation table and binoculars allow you to admire the Galise and Tsanteleina peaks.
Madeleine (Solaise sector): A terrace with a relaxation area, orientation table and binoculars offers breathtaking views of the Charvet rock and Sana peak.
