Courchevel La Tania: Getting There, Lift Passes and Where to Stay

[ 18.09.2026 ]

Is La Tania part of Courchevel? Yes. It is one of the resort’s six villages, in a forest clearing at 1,400 metres, with its own gondola into the Courchevel ski area and on into the 3 Vallées. The village opened in 1990 and is fully pedestrianised.

It is a small, quiet village: the accommodation sits close to the pistes, and both the Courchevel ski area and the 3 Vallées are within reach without a car.

Snow and the way home

Is La Tania snow-sure?

At 1,400 metres, the useful question is how the ski day ends. From the village, the La Tania gondola and then the Dou des Lanches chairlift reach the highest point of the La Tania slopes in under twenty minutes, according to the village ski school, ESF La Tania. Several routes lead back down.

The way back to the village

  • From the top: the black Dou des Lanches, the red Bouc Blanc, or the blue Crêtes–Arolles, the gentlest of the three
  • On the way: the Bouc Blanc mountain restaurant
  • The last stretch: the blue Folyères or the green Plan Fontaine, both fitted with snowmaking so that you can ski back to the village
  • Or: ride the La Tania gondola down

Across the 3 Vallées, 85% of the ski area lies above 1,800 metres, and snowmaking covers more than half of Courchevel’s pistes.

Across the 3 Vallées

La Tania to Courchevel 1850 and Méribel

The Col de la Loze, at 2,304 metres, is the passage between the Courchevel and Méribel valleys, with a wide choice of pistes towards either side. Facing the top of the La Tania slopes, the Rocher de la Loze rises to 2,526 metres, a slope left to off-piste and powder skiers; ESF La Tania runs off-piste outings.

Without skis, Courchevel’s free shuttle serves every village, La Tania included, and the Mobilité Courchevel app shows the buses in real time. That covers Courchevel 1850, with its boutiques, Michelin-starred restaurants and nightlife.

Train, bus, plane

How to get to La Tania

  • Train. The nearest station is Moûtiers-Salins-Brides-les-Bains, 40 to 60 minutes from La Tania, with direct TGVs from Paris in season.
  • Bus from the station. Altibus line S65 runs from Moûtiers to Courchevel all year and stops at La Tania.
  • Airports. Chambéry, a seasonal airport, is about 1 hr 20 min away by road; Geneva and Lyon Saint-Exupéry about 2 hrs.
  • Airport buses. In winter, Altibus runs lines to Courchevel from Geneva and Lyon airports.
  • Private. A taxi from Moûtiers, a helicopter from a nearby airport, and some private flights can land at the Courchevel altiport.

For guests who book their stay with us, we help arrange the transfer from the station or the airport.

Before the first lift

Which lift pass to buy

  • Children under five ski free
  • Family Flex: one or two adults with one to six children under 18, everyone at the child rate
  • Beginners: the Kodiak area on La Tania’s snow front is free, with two moving carpets, and the one-day Minipass covers Courchevel’s Easy Rider learning zones

Passes are sold online at skipasscourchevel.com for collection at a kiosk, and at the ski pass office in La Tania.

Winter 2026/27

Courchevel’s season runs from 4 December 2026 to 18 April 2027, and the La Tania ski pass office is open daily on the same dates.

With the pass settled, the last question before booking is where to sleep — and this winter the village has one more address right on the piste.

Where to stay

Hotel room or apartment at Bârma?

Bârma takes its first guests on 5 December 2026: one building at the entrance to the village, with a residence of 70 apartments with kitchens and a four-star hotel of 51 rooms and 25 suites. Both are ski-in, ski-out. The Moretta piste runs straight to the ski room, and the gondola is less than 50 metres away on skis. The ESF desk, the ski shop, ski pass sales and the La Table de Bârma restaurant serve both.

With children

Ski school and childcare in La Tania

ESF La Tania has taught in the village since it opened in 1990, and for winter 2026/27 it runs from 5 December to 11 April.

  • From age three: the Piou Piou club, booked as a six-day week from Sunday or a five-day week from Monday
  • From six months to five years: the La Tanière des Croès day-care centre in La Tania
  • Busy weeks: book lessons before you arrive

The village is pedestrian, so children walk to the ski school without crossing traffic. How the ESF programmes work across the resort is covered in our guide to children’s ski lessons in Courchevel.

At Bârma, a kids’ room for ages three to ten is used together with a parent, and baby equipment comes on request.

Our view

Who La Tania suits

  • Families with young children: a pedestrian village, a free beginner area and lessons from age three
  • Skiers who want the whole 3 Vallées from a calmer base, with Méribel over the Col de la Loze
  • Anyone who would rather walk to the lift than drive to it

If evenings out in Courchevel 1850 matter as much as the skiing, stay in 1850; from La Tania, a taxi is the easy way there after dark.
