Courchevel 1850 is the highest of the six villages of the commune of Courchevel, in Savoie, alongside Saint-Bon (1,100 m), Le Praz (1,300 m), La Tania (1,400 m), Courchevel Village (1,550 m) and Courchevel Moriond (1,650 m). Its own ski area covers 150 km of marked slopes and links directly into Les 3 Vallées, which the operator describes as the largest linked ski area in the world.
How to get there: Chambéry 95 km (about 1 hr 15), Grenoble 125 km (about 1 hr 35), Lyon–Saint-Exupéry 176 km (about 2 hrs), Geneva 179 km (about 2 hrs). From the railway station at Moûtiers the drive takes roughly 30 minutes. Courchevel Altiport sits inside the ski area and takes private and commercial flights.
Slopes and lifts: 150 km of marked slopes in Courchevel itself, connected to the 600 km of Les 3 Vallées, which runs from 1,300 m to 3,230 m with 85 % of its terrain above 1,800 m. Beginners have the Pralong, Ariondaz and Bellecôte sectors and the Easy Rider zones; the Family Park is at 1850. La Saulire, the crossing point to Méribel, is served by a cable car rebuilt for the 2024/25 season.
Cross-country skiing: more than 50 km of free marked and groomed Nordic trails across the Courchevel villages. The resort describes the Col de la Loze loop, at 2,300 m, as the highest Nordic trail in the Alps.
Activities: Aquamotion, beside the old hamlet of Moriond, is the aqua-leisure centre for the whole commune, with six zones: aqua-fun, wellness, spa, indoor surfing, climbing and fitness. Seven Michelin-starred chefs cook across the six villages.
For children: the Village des Enfants at 1850 is an enclosed three-hectare site run by the ESF ski school, with a nursery from 18 months to 3 years and ski groups from 3 to 12. Courchevel holds the Famille Plus label.
Hotels: seventeen 5-star hotels and three Palaces, plus 4-star hotels, chalets and apartments across the six villages.
