Bourbon Hotel, Courchevel 1850: A London Club at 1,850 Metres

[ 10.09.2026 ]

In December 2026 a door on Rue Park City opens again. Regulars in Courchevel 1850 know the address: until now the name above it read Hôtel des 3 Vallées. The hotel announces the change in exactly those terms — Bourbon Hotel, formerly Hôtel des 3 Vallées. Same door, a new name, five stars.

It opens under the French group Chapitre Six. Thirty-one rooms, three of them suites. Dark wood, low light, a fireplace and a record player. In the hotel’s own phrase, a five-star of thirty-one rooms that runs against the current of everything the resort puts on show.

Rue Park City

The address changes hands

Chapitre Six calls what it does narrative hospitality: single houses rather than a portfolio. The collection runs from Hôtel La Ponche in Saint-Tropez and the Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel to four Paris addresses, with another house announced for Cannes in 2027.

The group’s other mountain house is Hôtel Saint-Georges in Megève. Bourbon is also not the only familiar Courchevel 1850 address reopening this winter: Le Saint Roch returns on 18 December with thirty-seven rooms and a marble spa. Two houses of almost the same size, in the same season. Le Saint Roch has published a date; Bourbon has so far named only the month.

No bleached wood

A house that refuses the chalet

The hotel states its position plainly in its own announcement: no bleached wood, no fur, no snowflake. What replaces them is an interior by Studio Henry, under the artistic direction of Pierre Alexis Guinet, that reads closer to a London club than to an alpine chalet. Dark wood, deep velvet, warm textures and thick English wools, with the lighting kept low.

The name follows the same logic. Like the glass of amber it takes its name from, the hotel says, Bourbon is one of those places you linger in and never quite mean to leave. Behind the door, in its own description, the resort simply fades away.

Toute la noblesse. Rien des convenances.

All the nobility, none of the manners. The hotel’s own line.

Simonetta

An Italian table, in a French village

Dining room of the Simonetta restaurant with velvet banquettes and windows onto the mountains, Bourbon Hotel Courchevel

The restaurant is called Simonetta and it is signed by Simone Zanoni, who runs the kitchen at Le George in the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris. The MICHELIN Guide, which carries Le George in its Paris selection, describes his cooking there as unmistakably Italian. At Simonetta the brief, in the hotel’s words, is the great transalpine classics revisited with care for the gesture and generosity of the produce.

Against the tasting menus Courchevel is known for, an Italian house restaurant is a narrower and more usable proposition. For the wider field, our Courchevel gastronomy guide covers the season.

Cocktails and vinyl

The bar is the point

The hotel gives the bar its own chapter: a fireplace, a turntable, records. Cocktails and vinyl, in its description, set the tempo for après-ski and for evenings that stretch on. It calls the bar the beating heart of the house, which in a thirty-one-room building is less a slogan than a floor plan.

Courchevel 1850 has plenty of rooms where the night gets loud, and we have written about them This is the other kind: you come back from the slopes, take a seat, and the evening happens where you are sitting.

Heat and cold

The spa

Downstairs, stone and onyx, and a spa built around contrast therapy: alternating heat and cold to bring the body back after a cold afternoon. Alongside it, bespoke treatments and face and body rituals. The hotel describes it as somewhere you settle in straight after the slopes, or before continuing the night at the bar.

What is not settled yet

The pictures above are the visuals the hotel and the group publish, not photography: no images of the finished hotel have been released. We will replace them when they are.

The opening date is given only as December, and the hotel has not published how many rooms sit in each category. Both are on our list to confirm, and we will update this page rather than leave it standing.

Thirty-one rooms is a small number in a village that counts its palaces, and everything Bourbon publishes about itself points the same way: inward, to the fire, the bar and the table. Whether that reads as restraint or as a house with less on offer is a question the first season will answer.
