Lys Martagon, Courchevel 1850: Seven Rooms on the Bellecote Piste

[ 17.09.2026 ]

Lys Martagon’s ski room opens straight onto the Bellecôte piste in Courchevel 1850. Inside the hotel are seven rooms and suites and 2,000 square metres of space for no more than twenty guests.

Seven rooms, twenty guests

How private is Lys Martagon?

The spa is where the size of the hotel shows most. It covers 280 square metres in Art Deco and Art Nouveau lines, with an indoor pool, a sauna, a steam room, an ice fountain and hot tubs inside and out. Under the spa’s rules, the pool and facilities are strictly for hotel residents. An outside guest who books a massage is given one hour of access.

Evenings can stay indoors too. There is a cinema room with popcorn made by the chef, an art salon with a library, a games room for children with consoles and board games, and a bar hidden inside the building. Reception, the concierge and security work around the clock, and the concierge service includes a shuttle within Courchevel 1850.

The hotel also holds a collection: paintings by the Impressionist Armand Guillaumin, mosaics of Sicis glass, back-lit stained glass and ceilings designed by the Russian illustrator Pavel Orinianski, and dozens of works by René Lalique.

At Lys Martagon, skis go on in the hotel’s own ski room and you step out onto the Bellecôte piste. Advice and equipment come from the hotel’s local partner, Bernard Orcel, whose 2025/26 rental list includes tailor-made skis by Denériaz, Bogner and Bomber, touring kit and avalanche safety packs.

Two other hotels we work with sit on the same piste, both larger:

Restaurant and bar

The restaurant at Lys Martagon

The panoramic restaurant is ALYAS, led by chef Sylvestre Wahid, who sums up his cooking there as the power of the Alps, fire and the Mediterranean. The menu published for 2026 is a single tasting menu of eight sequences chosen by the chef, with a wine pairing or a non-alcoholic one. It moves from Roscoff crab with caviar to sea bass roasted on a slab of Himalayan salt with black truffle, cheeses from Bernard Mure-Ravaud, Meilleur Ouvrier de France, and the chef’s own gulab jamun. Tables are booked through the hotel.

Two more reasons to stay in for dinner: pastry chef Yazid Ichemrahen of Ycone Paris created a collection of desserts that, according to the hotel, is served only at Lys Martagon, and private tastings are held in the wine cellar. For the rest of the resort, see our Courchevel restaurant guide.

The Prohibition Bar

Hidden indoors, the bar is set in the 1920s, with rare spirits, table games and cocktails with a whiff of the forbidden, for tea time or after hours. Its 2026 list includes a Speakeasy Royal made with Perrier-Jouët.

Where the name comes from

The martagon lily is a pink lily that flowers in summer on the hillsides of the French Alps. The MICHELIN Guide calls it particularly emblematic of the Tarentaise valley and of Courchevel 1850.

Our view

Who Lys Martagon suits

  • Couples and small families who want a spa shared with no more than twenty guests
  • Skiers who want to start and end the day on the Bellecôte piste
  • Guests who would rather dine, drink and watch a film without leaving the hotel

It suits less well if you want a staffed kids’ club or several restaurants to choose from. The hotel lists one restaurant and one bar, and for children a games room and a nanny on request.
