The Nuvolau refuge is located at 2575m. altitude in the 5 Torri area. It is the oldest refuge in the Dolomites.
Run by the Siorpaes family for over thirty years, the refuge in closed in winter and can be reached only on foot.

The Rifugio Averau has been listed by the Sunday Times between the ten best restaurants of the Alps. It has been awarded prestigious awards both in Italy and abroad. Sandro Siorpaes and his wife Paola offer a traditional but sophisticated cooking. You must try the casunziei filled with šciopetìs, a wild herb harvested in the local meadows by the restaurant’s very chefs in May. Also available on the menu are pheasant and broccoli timbale, delicious game birds main courses and not to forget the delicious desserts made personally by Sandro. The atmosphere is warm and friendly.

Located in the heart of the centre of Cortina d’Ampezzo, LP 26 is one of the busiest places in the area. The king of the menu is the prosciutto (cured ham) in all its versions. There are also some more nourishing dishes such as fresh “tortelloni” filled with prosciutto, soft drinks, aperitifs and appetizers, live music and dj set.

It is one of the few pizzeria/restaurant that still takes reservations and where you can eat a pizza until midnight. Two minutes away from corso Italia it is at walking distance from the city centre. Stefano Rezzadore is the star of the place, an exhockey player, big fan of curling. His dynamic spirit and the friendly staff give the restaurant a rather welcoming and heartfelt atmosphere. On the menu there are starters, porcini mushrooms pappardelle, angus beef steak, venison or goulasch with polenta and loads more. Late at night, if you are lucky enough, you may get the chance to listen to the barman Ciccio strumming away on his guitar.

Thanks to Graziano Prest’s cooking the restaurant has become one of the best of Cortina. Apart from game and lamb there is also plenty of fish from the nearby fish markets of Venezia and Chioggia. Shellfish are much appreciated, starting from crayfish tartar with marinated fennels and potato mayonnaise, following with pumpkin ravioli with scallops and prawns.
