Verbier sits at 1,500 m on a wide, sunny plateau in the Valais, in the commune of Val de Bagnes. It is the main resort of the 4 Vallées, the largest connected ski area in Switzerland, and a freeride destination known well beyond it; the winter calendar includes the Xtreme Verbier and the Patrouille des Glaciers.
How to get there: trains run to Le Châble in the valley, and from there it is 20 minutes up to Verbier by gondola to Médran or by bus to the centre; the gondola runs from 5:10am to 11:55pm. On winter weekends and public holidays the Verbier Express runs direct from Geneva Airport to Le Châble. By car, allow about 1 hr 50 from Geneva Airport and 3 hr 15 from Zurich Airport.
Slopes and lifts: the 4 Vallées has 410 km of pistes and 80 lifts, stretching from Verbier to Thyon via Nendaz and Veysonnaz, with 24 blue, 39 red and 10 black runs. The top of the area is Mont-Fort at 3,330 m. Verbier’s own sector lies between 1,500 and 2,700 m, around Les Ruinettes, La Chaux and Attelas; La Tzoumaz – Savoleyres and Bruson are separate sectors.
Lift passes: four zones — Bruson, La Tzoumaz – Savoleyres, Verbier and the whole 4 Vallées.
For beginners and children: the moving carpets at Les Esserts and Les Moulins in Verbier, and one in La Tzoumaz, are free; Le Rouge and the blue runs at La Chaux are the next step. Ski schools meet at the «No. 17» bus stop, reached only by shuttle line 1. Shuttle buses within the resort are free all year.
Freestyle: the snowpark sits at La Chaux at 2,250 m, next to a 700 m skicross run.
Season 2026/27: the Verbier – La Tzoumaz pass runs from 5 December 2026 to 25 April 2027, the 4 Vallées pass from 12 December 2026 to 18 April 2027.
