Les Arcs is four high-altitude sites above the Tarentaise valley — Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000 — with Bourg-Saint-Maurice at the bottom and Peisey-Vallandry along the ridge. A funicular runs up from the railway station at Bourg-Saint-Maurice to Arc 1600, which means the resort can be reached without a car at all.
How to get there: Bourg-Saint-Maurice has its own railway station, and the funicular from it takes you straight into the resort. The nearest airports are Geneva, Lyon-Saint-Exupéry, Chambéry and Grenoble.
Slopes and lifts: Les Arcs has 200 km of its own runs, rising to a single high point, the Aiguille Rouge at 3,226 m. From its summit a 7 km piste drops 2,026 m of vertical to the village of Villaroger.
Paradiski: the lift pass extends to 425 km and 258 runs across three linked resorts, 70 % of it above 2,000 m. The link is the Vanoise Express, a cable car with two double-deck cabins that crosses the Ponturin valley in four minutes, 380 m above the ground, over a span of 1,824 m between Peisey at 1,612 m and Montchavin-Les Coches at 1,548 m.
Where you stay: each of the four sites is built on the slope, so ski-in, ski-out is the norm rather than the exception. Arc 1950 is the newest and the most village-like of them; Arc 1800 is the largest.
Season 2026/27: 12 December 2026 to 24 April 2027. The Paradiski link runs 12 December 2026 to 17 April 2027.
