Les 2 Alpes lies at 1,650 m in the Oisans, with a glacier above it that reaches 3,600 m. Three quarters of the ski area sits above 2,000 m, and the glacier is why the season here runs about seven months rather than four.
How to get there: Grenoble is the nearest airport, with Lyon-Saint-Exupéry further out.
Slopes and lifts: 220 km of runs over 420 hectares, 96 pistes in all — 18 green, 47 blue, 17 red and 14 black. The lift system includes two 3S cable cars, a funicular, three gondolas, 16 chairlifts and six magic carpets, three of them free at the bottom of the slopes.
The long descent: the glacier feeds a run that drops from 3,600 m to the village of Mont de Lans at 1,300 m — a maximum vertical of 2,300 m, one of the largest in the Alps. The 14 km version down to the resort is a blue, which makes it unusually accessible for its length.
Freestyle: the 2 Alpes snowpark sits at 2,600 m, with a boardercross and a parallel course alongside.
Summer skiing: the high area between 3,200 m and 3,600 m stays open through the spring and into early July.
Where you stay: the resort runs along one street on a shelf above the Romanche, so the walk to a lift is short and the accommodation is strung along it.
Season 2026/27: 28 November 2026 to 2 May 2027 in the resort, then high-altitude skiing from 3 to 30 May and a training season to 4 July — 218 days in all.
